Shashank Shah is a stakeholder management strategist, researcher and published business author. He has developed strategic perspectives and operational frameworks on leading multinational and Indian public and private sector firms, including Fortune 500 companies. His research and publications focus on the pivotal role of corporations in economic and social value creation through visionary leadership, stakeholder-centric decision making and inclusive business strategies.

Dr. Shah has co-authored over 100 research-based papers, case studies, articles and technical notes in the areas of Corporate Stakeholder Management Strategy, Private Sector Development, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, Governance and Leadership. These are published by eminent publishers including Harvard Business School, Penguin Random House, Springer, Sage, Emerald and Macmillan. He has presented research papers in international conferences at Harvard University (USA), INSEAD (France) and Indian Institutes of Management; and also invited to present his research at institutions in Brazil, Italy, Japan, Malaysia and Turkey.

A recipient of the President of India and Governor’s Gold Medals for excellence in the MBA and Master of Philosophy programmes at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, he was awarded the AIMS International Outstanding Doctoral Management Student Award at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. He has been Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Business School, USA; and the Copenhagen Business School, Denmark. He has also been a Fellow and Project Director at the Harvard University South Asia Institute, USA; and a Fellow at the European SPES Institute, Belgium. He was Invited Expert Faculty in Corporate Responsibility at Executive Development Programmes by Harvard University, World Bank and the Government of India; and the School of Management, IIT Bombay. A Consulting Editor with The Business India Group, he is a columnist for Business World, and reviewer for Taylor & Francis, Sage, Palgrave Macmillan, and Emerald Publications.

Based on extensive research across three continents, Dr. Shah has co-authored over 10 books, monographs, mimeos and technical reports in the areas of Stakeholder Management, Corporate Responsibility, Livelihood Creation and Social Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics, Integral Education, and Humanised Healthcare. Significant among them are ‘Win-Win Corporations’ and ‘Soulful Corporations’. His forthcoming tome focuses on ‘The Tata Way of Business’. He has taught postgraduate courses on Marketing, Quality and Innovation, and Indian Ethos and Values; and postgraduate and doctoral courses on Research Methods in Social Sciences.

During his decade-long research, he interviewed and worked closely with 200+ CXO level business leaders and industry captains across top 100 national and multinational corporations in India on issues related to corporate strategy, competitiveness, innovation, sustainability and governance. He also interacted with leading academics from Harvard Business School, Harvard Kennedy School, MIT Sloan School of Management, Boston University, New York University Stern School of Business, University of Virginia Darden School of Business, INSEAD France; and experts from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Reserve Bank of India and the United Nations Global Compact. His major contribution is a veritable knowledge base of multi-sectoral, multi-industry and multi-stakeholder leadership insights of a collective experience of 4,000 years, which is leveraged across industries in India for implementation and capability building.

Dr. Shah can be described as a Jignasu, someone on a quest for knowledge about the worlds – within and without. Living up to this inner inspiration, and as Editor-in-Chief of the University’s Publications Division, he has compiled and edited over two dozen books on Indian Ethos and Values based on the Message of the Revered Founder Chancellor. On a hundred occasions, he has been invited to address large gatherings in India and USA on diverse themes relating to Management, Human Values-Based Education and Leadership, Social Responsibility and Service, Vedanta, Indian Culture and Spirituality.
