Over the last decade, Dr. Shashank Shah has keenly studied the areas of Stakeholder Management, Corporate Responsibility and Governance, Business Ethics, Values-Based Leadership, Integral Education, and Humanised Healthcare. His work primarily focuses on studying Stakeholder Management in three distinct canvases.

Firm Level : The firm-level study involved analysing strategies and practices in leading Indian and multinational companies from diverse industry backgrounds including banking, energy, infrastructure, consumer packaged goods, automobile, IT and IT-enabled services, hospitality, and the manufacturing sector. Industry Level : The industry-level study focused on the Indian banking and financial services sector, the one that fuels the engine of India’s growth story. This involved interactions with senior bankers and industry captains across private, public and foreign banks and financial services companies in India. Some of these include:

Private Sector Banks: ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Yes Bank

Foreign Banks: RBS, UBS, Deutsche, Barclays India, Citibank India, Rabobank, State Bank of Mauritius

Across these three levels, he has personally interviewed over 200 industry captains, senior executives, heads of companies and subject experts across reputed national and multinational corporations in India. He also interacted with senior regulators at the Reserve Bank of India including Executive Directors and Deputy Governors.

To gain an international perspective on the subject, he has interacted with top academics from USA including the Harvard Business School, Harvard Kennedy School, MIT Sloan Business School, Boston University, New York University’s Stern School of Business, University of Virginia's Darden School of Business; from Europe including INSEAD (France) and Copenhagen Business School (Denmark); and experts from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and the United Nations. He has built a veritable knowledge base of insights in the field of Stakeholder Management Strategy, Corporate Responsibility, and Values-Centered Leadership of a collective corporate experience of 4,000 human years.

Besides, he has gathered and analysed primary data from over 400 Indian and multinational corporations on issues connected with Stakeholder Management – policy, strategy and impact. These include major stakeholders such as customers, employees, shareholders/providers of capital, supply chain partners, society and local community, government/regulatory authorities and natural environment. His primary interest lies in studying and creating win-win strategies and solutions mutually beneficial to the corporation and its multiple stakeholders.

He is in the process of publishing a series of books that present interesting insights and practical applications synthesised from a dozen years of research in this field. Given below is a select list of his research publications over the last dozen years. By clicking on certain titles, full text of the article can be accessed.
